Whether or not you can hold something for ransom all depends on the person you’re trying to get something from and how much they care about what you’ve taken from them. Ransom could be a person, it could be a bank account or a company, it could be an old penny they found when they were little that led them to their true love, it could be a dust mote that they believe grants wishes. They just have to care enough about it to want it back and to do anything to get it back.
