Description

So while working on The 'Skeeter for Bayou Arcana, I really wanted to show you the process behind how I would put a page together, so here is page two in nice simple chunks.
I've made it look a lot easier than it is. There is a lot of time spent on planning and faffing around, getting in the right mood to draw.
I'd spend about a day drawing a page, but because it was only tackled in the evenings, I'd spend about a week and a bit on each page from start to finish. Not to say it was that linear. To keep things consistent I'd draw all the pages first, then scan them all together, layout and then colour. I was fortunate to have some comic paper with the page guides printed on it so I could work traditionally straight onto the paper, and there are plenty of places online where you can download guides.

I traditionally use a lot of gradients for highlighting characters when I colour but wanted to keep it simple because of time restraints, so coloured this comic differently compared to how I'd usually work, and I really liked it. The characters stayed completely flat, while detail and shading was applied to only the background layer.
This meant I'd have 3 levels at the most for colouring;
Characters,
Background,
Lighting Effects.

I think my favourite stage was the layout and adding the dialougue, This was the stage where it all came together and started to look complete. ^__^

Hope it interests you. I just wish these stages were that simple, haha!

Check my journal for details on release dates for Bayou Arcana and where to order ^__^
